What is RSS and News Syndication?
News Syndication is a term used to describe the sharing of news
stories between web sites, allowing web site owners to keep up-to-date
information on their site without the expense of maintaining it locally.
A variety of tools can be used to accomplish this, but one of the most
common is an application of XML known as Really Simply Syndication (RSS
-- also known as Rich Site Summary). In essence, RSS allows news content
or similar data to be shared between servers, or used directly by users
with software tools known as news aggreagator.
What is a News Aggregator?
News Aggregator is a software application that helps a user retrieve
news items to a central place from different RSS news sources (or news).
Some of the common news aggregators in the market are RadioUserLand, RSSReader,
my.Yahoo etc. To learn how to set up you own "My Yahoo" page to display
news, click here.
