WRATT III Introduction to Powder Coating Systems: Chapter 13: Powder Coating on Plastics
Chapter Abstract: This is clip 13 of 26 for this video. There are facilities that use in mold coating. A specially formulated powder is layered on the inside of the mold and forms a permanent bond with the SMC substrate. Powder coatings have been successfully applied to high warp resistant plastics. The powder coating industry is working to develop lower temperature cure powders which could be used with plastic without warping them in the heat.
