WRATT IV Promote Landfill Alternatives Now: Solutions for Industrial Solid Waste: Chapter 01: Introduction
Chapter Abstract: This is clip 1 of 26 for this video. This teleconference will focus on solid waste issues including source reduction, reuse, recovery, reclamation and recycling. In the United States, about 66% of landfill and incinerator waste is generated by business and industry. Industry has learned that solid waste is more expensive to handle that hazardous waste, that solid waste is coming into their facility via vendors, and that there are outlets for this waste. Legislation is calling for at least a 25% reduction in solid waste. Source reduction and reuse are the most effective strategies before recycling even enters the picture.
