Reducing The Hazards - A Look at Pollution Prevention Programs in Texas: Chapter 07: Evaluate Ideas

Chapter Abstract: "This is clip 7 of 10 for this video. Step 6: Evaluate Ideas. Betaco used to be a large generator of hazardous waste. The first step they took in eliminating this waste was to get rid of the vapor degreasers, and eliminate the use of aerosol spray paint. For the remaining hazardous waste they gathered and evaluated ideas. TNRCC (now TECQ) was called in to evaluate what kinds of wastes were still being generated. They suggested a switch to a water based paint. Betaco also replaced a lacquer lubricant with a soap and replaced the oil bath for the braiding machine with a specially formulated grease. "
