Pollution Prevention in the Textile Industry: Chapter 06: Implementation of a Pollution Prevention Program

Chapter Abstract: This is clip 6 of 7 for this video. Implementation of a P2 program can lead to significant cost savings. The first step to implementation is to form a review team to analyze existing sources of waste emissions. Include all areas of the plant. Reviewing plant operations reveal processes that could benefit from change. By using a materials balance approach, you will be able to prioritize changes. Planning and thorough communication are essential to the success of any P2 program. You should establish goals and take action to meet them. The program will have the best chance to succeed when the entire organization is behind it. You must have management commitment and employee support and suggestions. The review team should monitor and re-evaluate processes on a regular basis. Help can also be found from trade associations and environmental organizations.
