Pollution Prevention for Metal Platers - Dragout Reduction: Chapter 01: Introduction to Pollution Prevention and Dragout
Chapter Abstract: This is clip 1 of 7 for this video. The metal finishing process involves the use of many chemicals to clean and prepare surfaces. Following the Dragout reduction techniques presented in this video can help reduce operating costs and prevent pollution while continuing to produce high quality products. Environmental regulations passed by the government have raised production costs. Minimizing waste generation will decrease these costs. This is called pollution prevention. A line operator's ability to move parts efficiently through production helps pollution prevention efforts. The chemical solution carried out of the process bath on parts is called Dragout. This results in wasted raw materials and increased pollution. Dragout most often occurs when parts are processed too quickly.
