Environmentally Sound Practices in the Marina Industry: Springtime Commissioning: Chapter 03: Hull Maintenance
Chapter Abstract: This is clip 3 of 6 for this video. The biggest challenge in boat preparation is keeping its hull properly maintained. Every several years, boat hulls must be stripped and repainted. Paint chips and particle must be contained. Using vacuum systems and covering will help in this regard. Personal protection equipment must be worn. Sandblasting uses specific safety and environmental equipment. Soda blasting and hydraulic stripping are environmentally friendly techniques. Peel off preparations can be used for antifoulant paints. All water from these techniques is filtered and properly discharged.
