WRATT III Case Studies - Great Dane Chapter 02: Painting Procedure
Chapter Abstract: This is clip 2 of 14 for this video. In the past, when the trailer was assembled it was prepared for painting. The trailer was washed down with 111-trichloroethane prior to painting. The painting process involves 4 coating in various colors. The trailer was then allowed to air dry. After lights, name / serial plates and mud flaps are installed, the trailer was moved to the storage yard. An average of 224,000 lbs of 111-trichloroethane vapor was emitted into the atmosphere each year. The 1991 estimate is 22,000 lbs released, a reduction of 202,000 lbs or 90%.
